Book Description
Europe and the World
Europe and the World in European Historiography seems to bear a paradoxical title. The paradox, or the complexity, lies in the subject matter. Europe, as Csaba Lévai reminds us in his Introduction, is continuously changing and being redefined. Many definitions and realities coexist in today’s many-faceted Europe, relating to both the geographical and the political space we refer to as Europe. Correspondingly, the reality and the definition of what is ‘not Europe’ changes continually, in a specular and connected way. Historiography is affected by this process and affects it profoundly.
